New Delhi, July 31’ 2012 – Comic Con India is happy to announce the expansion of the Comic Con India brand by creating yet another annual property called ‘Mumbai Film & Comics Convention’. This is the first ever Films and Comics Convention for India to be held between October 20-21, 2012 at World Trade Center, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai.
Post the success of Comic Con Express Mumbai, the first traveling version of Comic Con India in October 2011, an annual version was being planned by Comic Con India for the fans in Mumbai. With the increasing synergy between films and comics, Comic Con India found Mumbai to be the ideal place to introduce the brand new convention - ‘Mumbai Film & Comics Convention’. An event dedicated to Comics, films and everything in between.
Jatin Varma, Founder, Comic Con India, explained, “With the tremendous response at Comic Con Express Mumbai last October, we felt that a permanent event was required for the city. Therefore, it gives us great pleasure in announcing the first ever Mumbai Film & Comics Convention. At the core, the event shall always remain a comics convention, however, with the inaugural edition we wish to take small steps towards bringing in Indian and foreign cinema. We hope to expand and build upon this in the coming years and provide Mumbai, its biggest pop-culture event of the year.”
Comic Con India as always is planning a whole slew of activities for Mumbai Film and Comics Convention (MFCC), ranging from workshops to interactive sessions, display and sale of a wide range of comics & merchandise, special corners for creating comics and cartoons, Cosplay, Contests, Book launches and lots more with an aim to promote and bring together local, national and international talent in India to generate more interest among fans.
The tremendous response to Mumbai’s first ever comic con, held last October, a landmark event for the Indian Comics Industry ensured that a regular convention in the city was certainly due. And keeping in mind Mumbai’s unique position as the heart of the Indian film industry, MFCC is aiming to connect both films and comics, bringing them together on a common platform, as well as celebrating associated industries of Gaming, Animation, Toys, Merchandise & more.
